The bail system in California and many states tends to punish those who cannot afford high bail costs. Seeing the lack of affordability within the California bail system, the Senate Public Safety Committee has recently voted 5-1 towards passing a bill that would relieve the situation of high bail, possibly releasing 46,000 Californians who are behind bars, awaiting trial or sentencing.
