California labor and consumers have sponsored a bill that requires pharmaceutical manufacturers to provide prior notice when raising prices and issuing health plan requirements. Companies will also be required to detail the portions of health care premiums dedicated to the cost of prescription drugs.
In addition, health care plans will need to provide information on trends in drug purchases that includes the most prescribed, highest costs, and highest cost increases.
SB 17 will also provide public access to the factors that drive costs.
