  1. How can I help? This Measure B stuff, along with the Sales Tax lies, is just too much for an old-time EC resident . . .

  2. A few years ago I took numerous photos of El Cerrito, including the city hall. I donated use of some of my images in the city’s web site, but I have all rights. Maybe you can use a few.

    1. I very much want to join this group, and have at least two more friends who want to, also. Alas, I am still not fully recovered from a very bad cold and I do not want to take the slightest chance that I might still infect someone, so I will not be coming to the meeting tonight.

Please keep me in the loop, however. And thanks to all of you for getting this together!!! Elizabeth Thorsnes510.527.7476

Sheriff Livingston Rejects Pleas from Most Vulnerable Contra Costans and their advocates .

Most Vulnerable Contra Costans and advocates met with Sheriff Livingston who refused to assure protection for the most vulnerable in the community from Trump’s hard anti-immigrant policies, and affirmed that , in spite of overwhelming opposition by county residents, he will continue his collaboration with ICE and his plan to expand the local jail.

Thousands of immigrants are facing detention for ICE for deportation. Thousands of working families are facing destruction for the bit of silver ICE gives Sheriff Livingston. These are families who arrived here escaping our government’s military and economic policies abroad and Livingston wants to make money from their misery and suffering.

The jail expansion is also supported by those county supervisors who also are lining up with Trump for a few ICE pennies: Karen Mitchoff, Candace Andersen, Federal Glover and Diane Burgis.

Sheriff Livingston also refused to clarify or retract his ‘di facto’ endorsement of Trump’s hungman AG Jeff Sessions.

The people of Contra Costa responded: “This is all wrong. We won’t allow a Trump’s agenda in our county. We will work to protect all our vulnerable communities, specially the communities who are under attack by Trump. Contra Costans stand with immigrants and communities of color who are being increasingly attacked. Shame on the sheriff Livingston” said Claudia Jimenez from the Contra Costa Racial Justice Coalition.

Contra Costa county public defender Ali Saidi stated: “Here in Contra Costa, it feels like we’re in the Alabama of the Bay Area. We are the forgotten county out here. The elected officials of other counties in the Bay Area step up and declare loudly that they are with the community: Non here in Contra Costa. It’s like Alabama and their sheriffs”

The advocates call for all Contra Costans to stand up against these Trump policies in Contra Costa.
